Eastern PEI is very much a rural landscape dotted with quaint and delightful harbour villages. The coastline hosts over 30 white and red sand natural beaches and the river systems, forested woodlots and farmland is home to over 330 species of birds. Your home away from home will be Forest and Stream Cottages and Country Charm B&B which is nestled on 20 acres of mixed forest just west of the fishing village of Murray Harbour. The property is host to a kilometer long, spring fed lake whose exiting stream runs into a tidal saltwater flat. The lake is frequented by King Fishers, Wood Ducks, Mergansers, Eagles, Blue Herons, Canada Geese, to name a few. |

Fiep is a resident of PEI for 10 years and has been working in the Island's eco-tourism in different capacities. After finishing her education as a wildlife technician, Fiep pursued her interest in bird watching by conducting bird surveys as part of an environmental assessment for a proposed windmill project on PEI. She has also been involved with Island Nature Trust and the Natural History Society of PEI to promote and protect the Island's Natural areas. She has experience in bird banding and bird rehabilitation on PEI and elsewhere in Canada. Her enthusiasm for birds and knowledge of their habitats will allow you to experience the wonderful world of birds in PEI in a unique and insightful way.

Situated on 20 acres of mixed pine, birch & poplar, with a large private access lake, and cycling trails seconds away for your door. Best of all is the birding. Expect to see, magnolia, yellow rumped, common yellow throat & even a mourning warbler if you are lucky. Hermit warblers, cedar waxwings, both black capped & boreal chickadees are common as well as white throated sparrows & ruby crowned kinglets. Visits by purple finches, gold finches, nuthatches & Juncos near the feeders are to be expected. Best of all you are 5 minutes from excellent wetlands & shore birding opportunities that include, whimbrels, godwits, various sandpipers, gannets, and a variety of gulls and terns. It is not uncommon to tally 40 – 50 species in one morning within a 5 mile radius. Secluded quiet & best hospitality anyone could ask for. |
