Treasures with GPS Geocaching is a wonderful family FUN experience for young and old. If you are unsure of just what geocaching is, the best way to describe it is "high tech treasure hunting" that has caught the world by storm. Your PEI Geocaching experience starts with a little training. We will show you the basics of the handheld GPS and how to use it to find a location. Glossary and reference links Choose the area of the Island you would like to explore. We provide you with printed information on the caches with helpful hints and off you go. We also provide waypoint details of a cache on our propery for our guests. Find the cache, retrieve a pin, and you will receive two free 2 hour bike rentals. If you have specific places or tour routes that you would like to follow, we can customize waypoints that take you to unique island locations. We will need a minimum of 48 hours notice to customise a route for you. Guest Rates GPS and 10 cache detail sheets - $20 per GPS Customized waypoints with GPS $20 plus $5 per waypoint Non Guest Rates GPS and 10 cache detail sheets - $30 per GPS Customized waypoints with GPS $30 plus $7.50 per waypoint. A system of satellites that work with a GPS receiver to determine your location on the planet. Waypoints - Waypoints are named coordinates representing points on the surface of the Earth. (longitude and latitude coordinates) Cache - Pronounced "cash" - In geocaching it is a hidden container filled with a log book, pencil/pen, and possibly items to trade. Caches can be thought of as a hidden store of nuts and food by squirrels. Geocaching - is finding these hidden caches using a GPS that takes you to take you to specific longitude and latitude coordinate.
